Damon Announces the Return of the Caveman Beard
Good news for those of us who once loved the care-free "idiot" Johnny Damon. The man who abandoned his caveman beard look for the riches of the Yankees -- as if winning a World Series is important or something -- plans on returning to the look that made him a fan favorite in Boston. Hooray!
"You will probably see the beard, but it might take the whole season for the hair to grow back," Damon said during a radio interview, "I went into the offseason not knowing if I had to keep my hair short, but I can pull out a wig."
Yes! After all, clearly it was the hair and beard that made Damon such a dynamic player. Look at how awful he was in NYC without them... Oh... Right.
Well, I for one am excited for the return of the beard.
I get that in a radio interview for a local Detroit station that you're going to say things for the fans there, but Damon said something else during the interview that has probably not been said for 30 years.
"I’ve been stuck in the media capitals of the world for the past eight years and it’s good to come into camp and actually focus on baseball. I’ve been wanting to come to Detroit for a long time."
Let's assume he was speaking metaphorically -- although I'm not sure he knows what metaphorically means -- and that the "Detroit" he mentions is more of a mythical city like Camelot or something because no one ever WANTS to go to Detroit.
