Happy Birthday to Ernie Harwell!

One of my favorite baseball announcers, one of the all-time greatest baseball announcers and reportedly all-around great guy Ernie Harwell has been battling cancer for several months now. When he announced that he was diagnosed with an incurable case of bile duct cancer back in September, Harwell said that he didn't think he'd get to see his 92nd birthday.

Today is Harwell's birthday and he's thankfully still with us. 

Here's hoping for a very happy, healthy and satisfying birthday for one of the great velvet-throats in baseball history and someone who, while I wasn't lucky enough to hear growing up, I have managed to catch in multiple games since and who is a true national treasure.
