To honor the games and the people participating in them, The Slanch Report will be bringing you TWICE DAILY the Hot Olympian of the Day. We will bring you every day two otherwise likely unknown-to-you Olympians who, while maybe not quite worthy of a place on the medal stand, certainly are worth being placed on a pedestal for us to enjoy. Celebrate them all on the Hot Olympians page.
While the other members of the US snowboarding team attract more attention, Elena Hight flies under the radar. The 5'5" half-pipe artiste moved to Boise from Hawaii at age 7, which has to be the worst move ever, but there, and later Lake Tahoe, she learned snowboarding. Now 22, Hight, who also competed in the 2006 Turin games, finished in 10th in Vancouver but remains one of the top snowboarders in the world.
As an added bonus for Hight, who was the final addition to the women's snowboard, her boyfriend, fellow snowboarder Greg Bretz was on the men's half-pipe squad and he finished in 12th, so at least she has that over him. When you're as adorably cute as Elena is, she could have anything over me. Also, I'm a sucker for the little nose-ring stud.
