Rookie of the Year Gets Busted Going 120
Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans won the Rookie of the Year award this season for his play on the court, there he is a speedy scoring star, unfortunately that need for speed can get you in trouble off the basketball court. A video released by the California Highway Patrol shows Evans racing another car on the highway at speeds over 120 mph.
Caught via aerial camera the video clearly shows Evans and another car jockeying for position and driving recklessly across all 4 lanes of the highway as they reached autobahn-style speeds. The police generally frown upon that.
When police finally caught up to the Kings' star, police arrested him at gunpoint, presumably for being black and driving in a Mercedes. He pleaded no contest to the charge of reckless driving, receiving 80 hours of community service, losing his license for 30 days and, because he's still only 19, ordered to take part in a teen driving program. What a jones!
Maybe he's just trying to repeat as Rookie of the Year and nab NASCAR's trophy too?
